Depending on the type of industry that you work in and the product that you want to test, you might need different options for test stations and test adapters to provide the quality of results that you desire. For example, a mobile test station is very flexible, providing cost-effective solutions to many different industries. It can be easily adapted to suit and can be used to provide a wide range of test solutions with one single purchase. A universal test station offers more precise testing solutions with expanded capabilities for similar product types and configurations.
Custom Solutions for Different Industry Needs
EMC Technologies works with each client to determine their needs before recommending a particular solution for test stations, test adapters, and other options. For example, our clients who work in the telecommunications industry often look for cost-effective options that can be adapted to provide high-volume testing and complex testing for new products. We also have had clients within the medical device industry that required rigorous validation and acceptance testing. Clients who work in the hardware and software industry often request solutions that can be co-developed at the same time to reduce cost, save time, and meet their unique requirements.
For all of these industries, a mobile computer-based test station is often the best choice. Mobile test station solutions provide a wide range of options at an affordable cost. Our mobile test station features a built-in computer and monitor, as well as test interfaces that include both modular electrical and mechanical. We work with clients to maximize the use of “off the shelf” components and parts to save them money. Our technicians ensure that our test stations are well-organized and documented to reveal wiring and configurations to make it easy to use expansion areas, as well as multiple test adapters, panels, and plates. Each mobile test station features designed-in “quick access” to all inside resources.
The Benefits of a Universal Test Station
However, we do have some clients who prefer the advantages associated with using a universal test station over a mobile test station. Compared to the mobile version, the rack-based test stations have the ability to provide more precise test solutions and have a broader range of expansion capabilities. All options are made available a la carte to help reduce cost across the board. Clients can choose options that can be used on similar product types and configurations to further save money and maximize the return on their investment. Similar to the mobile test station, our universal test station features designed-in “quick access” to all inside resources for easier adaptability and multi-product testing.
In addition to all of these benefits, our universal test station solutions also feature slide-out front rack shelving, which helps the user to easily remove instruments and provides easy access for calibration. The center fixture receiver backplane fixture can be interchanged with other fixtures for further customization. Interfacing with the test station is possible through the use of small personality “daughter” cards for each part type and family. The simple movement of test adapters and other components can be managed and organized through the use of soft tie downs and wire harnessing. Our universal test station also uses LabVIEW software via IEEE 488 buss for communication with testing instruments inside of the test stations.
Clients who only require one simple type of test for a specific product testing will often request information about our test-specific stations. Unlike our mobile test station and universal test station options, which can be easily adapted and customized to perform a variety of test solutions, the test-specific stations only perform one type of test. Included features can range from active and passive electronic loads and load simulators to mechanical-only holding, clamping, or multi-axis stations. Other features include test stations that are compliant with EMI, RF, and EMC testing options. Stations for temperature and vibration, integrated electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic stations, and video, non-contact, infra-red, laser, and barcode sensor stations are also available as well.
