Highly Customized Interface Test Adapters
We take pride in our ability to exceed expectations in the development of custom functional test fixtures, but also our work with highly customized interface test adapters (ITAs) for computer servers, medical industry, networking and telecommunications, and satellite TV/IP applications. EMC Technologies has completed machining and prototyping services, electro-mechanical design, and ITA development designed to support military, aerospace, and subcontracted military programs. Some of the custom interface test adapters that we have worked with in recent years include custom backplane printed circuit board (PCB) for power and ground connections and redundant interfaces for multiple connections to a single point. We also have extensive experience working with custom utility board PCBs to provide for additional loads, relays, and other specified features to support custom functional test fixtures. Removable access panels and highly customized operations dictated by the industry regulations and requirements of each client are some more examples of the types of fixtures that we provide through our custom electro-mechanical design and engineering services.
RF Functional Test Fixtures
Our engineering and design team has also worked with clients to develop a variety or test adapters and test stations for the testing of radio frequency (RF) circuit assemblies and microwave sub-assemblies. Unlike other types of custom functional test fixtures, the electro-mechanical design and strategies required for these types of designs include more a more complex approach. One of the techniques that we use includes a complete six-sided metal enclosure that is sealed with electromagnetic interference (EMI) shielded gaskets and RF silicone. All of these measures are designed to isolate the unit under test (UUT) from electromagnetic interference, which could affect the testing results.
In addition, some of our designs have incorporated the use of semi-rigid triple shielded coax or tensolite cables, rigid coax cables characterized by lab, SMA and BNC connectors, and matched impedance traces within the printed circuit board (PCB) design itself. We have also fabricated PCBs with Rogers Material, created RF specific rotary switches and power sensors, and designed coax switches specifically for this type of project. Our engineering and design team also has experience working with clients to custom design and build wage guide adapters for the many RF applications that we have undertaken over the years.
