Functional Testing Methods: RF Circuit Assemblies and Test Stations

functional testing methodsYou need special test stations and test adaptors to test RF circuit assemblies and microwave sub-assemblies correctly. Customers have asked our engineers to make a number of different types of functional test setups that are just right. RF functional testing methods and strategies need extra parts that aren’t needed in other test units or solutions. The people on our team worked hard to come up with custom tests that would work well for these kinds of parts and subassemblies.

Special Test Stations

When testing RF circuit parts and microwave sub-assemblies, the solutions need extra safety from electromagnetic interference compared to other types of functional test fixtures. One of the methods our team used was a full six-sided metal box that was sealed with RF silicone and EMI-protected seals. That is, this design keeps any kind of disturbance away from the UUT (unit under test). We’ve also added other things to a lot of our designs, like rigid coax cables and semi-rigid triple-shielded coax tensolite cables.

Certain connectors are used, such as SMA, which is widely used in the RF and microwave electronics business, and BNC, which is often found in test tools. In the printed circuit board (PCB) design, our engineers have made plans with matched impedance lines. They have also made PCBs with Rogers Material, RF rotary switches, RF power monitors, and coax switches. As part of some of our special designs and manufacturing projects, we’ve also made pay guide adapters for a wide range of RF functional testing uses.

Testing RF Circuit Parts

RF functional testing solutions for RF circuit assemblies were created because the industry asked for them. This is true for many of the other special functional test setups that EMC Technologies makes as well. The market for RF-enabled devices has grown very quickly, which means that more tests or UUT goods are needed for quality control. Our engineers and techs make custom test stations and fixtures that are needed to solve problems with a wide range of consumer and business goods that use this technology.

As the electronics industry grows all the time, testers of RF circuit assemblies and microwave subassemblies often need special solutions to meet their specific needs. Our team of engineers and techs comes up with specific methods and plans to make sure that testing and quality control work well. Functional test standards for RF and other types of tests are used in a lot of different fields, such as product development for consumer electronics. Functional test fixtures are also used in high-tech fields like telecommunications, networking, medical tools, and military companies.

Functional Testing Methods

When you call our team to help you find ways to test RF circuit assemblies, the first thing we’ll do is talk about your unique needs and come up with a plan. You can expect to work with a group of professionals who are highly trained and have a lot of experience. They will share your goal of getting good results. Electrical, mechanical, and printed circuit board engineering are just a few of the areas that our engineers are very good at. They know how to use the newest, most advanced tools, methods, and equipment so they can always give our customers good results. So that we can give our customers the best service and attention to detail possible, everyone in our company, even the sales staff, is trained and skilled in software, engineering, and technical project management.

We are experts at designing and making discretely wired and wireless functional test devices, interface test adapters, and test stations to test printed circuit boards (PCBs) and parts. However, our experience has helped us grow our skills in other areas as well. We’re especially proud of the work we’ve done on RF functional testing and how we’ve learned more about temperature, high speed, tight tolerance, and test racks. In the same way that we have in the past, we want to keep growing and developing with our clients. When EMC Technologies first started out, our main goal was to meet the functional testing needs of the military. Since then, we’ve grown to offer our services to both business clients and military partners.
