Electronic Test Industry: Custom Solutions for Medical Equipment

Electronic Test IndustryMany different industries rely on our custom functional test division to create solutions that will help them test their devices during in the lab, during production, and out in the field. We design and manufacture discretely wired and wireless functional test fixtures that are used for testing the performance verification of printed circuit boards (PCBs) and electronic assemblies for the electronic test industry. One of the industries that we proudly serve is the biomedical or medical device industry, which develops a wide range of electronic equipment used for patient care. We provide a variety of services for our clients, including the design of test systems and integration solutions, custom cables, RF functional test fixtures, and more, based on their unique needs and requirements.

Many Years of Experience

All of the engineers and technicians who work at EMC Technologies have many years of experience working in the design and development of custom functional test fixtures for our clients in the medical industry. Some of the machines that require the services of our functional test division include defibrillators, portable EKG systems, cardiovascular devices, patient drug delivery devices, diagnostic equipment, and patient monitoring systems. Our team can help manufacturers create viable solutions for the electronic test industry that will help them ensure that the devices they are building are safe, effective, and work according to industry standards.

We are proud to work with many different companies to play a significant part in the development of innovative medical electronic devices. Designing functional test fixtures that will meet or exceed the expectations of our customers is what we do every day, whether those clients work in the medical industry or serve customers in military and defense, transportation, aeronautics, and consumer goods. Whether the required solutions are simple, yet targeted to serve a specific need, or complex to work with a variety of different biomedical device testing requirements, we can help our customers achieve their goals.

Interface Test Adapters

Part of the services that we provide includes the development of highly customized interface test adapters or ITAs. These are used to support a wide range of customers to ensure safety, accuracy, and compliance for a variety of challenging products and devices. We work hard to stay current with all of the latest testing strategies, and we believe firmly that our diverse pool of clients and industries helps us to maintain our edge. Some of the interface test adapters that we have created for our clients in the electronic test industry include:

  • redundant interfaces with multiple connections to a single point
  • removable access panels for quick and easy adjustments
  • custom utility board PCBs with additional loads, relays, and other options
  • custom backplane PCBs with power and ground connections

RF Functional Testing

Some of our clients require special services for RF functional testing requirements. Our design team has worked to develop a variety of test adapters and testing stations within the functional test division to meet the needs for testing RF circuit assemblies and microwave sub-assemblies. Some of the techniques and strategies that we have used for the design of these functional test fixtures include a complete six-sided metal enclosure that is sealed with EMI shielded gaskets and RF silicone to isolate the unit under test (UUT) from any type of electromagnetic interference. This is extremely beneficial to many of our clients who work with RF and microwave assemblies.

Our designs have incorporated other features, including semi-rigid triple-shielded coax tensolite cables, rigid coax cables characterized by lab, SMA connectors, and BNC connectors. The functional test division has also incorporated matched impedance traces in printed circuit board (PCB) design and PCBs that were fabricated with Rogers material. We have also worked with RF rotary switches, RF power sensors, and coax switches to better meet the needs of RF functional testing for our clients. Coax switches and wage guide adapters have also been custom designed and built by our team for the many different types of RF applications that we have completed.
